The lot sold for $529 and came with a plinker Savage .22 rifle with scope.
The 10/22 was serial number 231-00000.

Didn't realize a gun of any kind could come out with just a year made (231), but not having at least serial #00001 designating that it's #1 for that model year.

Even 1964 10/22's that first came out, with actual manufactured serial #1 going to Bill Ruger. Lowest privately sold serial# I know that is now outside of Ruger employees is #4 that was sold to a Ruger collector on Rimfire Central.

231-00000 was made in 1988. This ones only significance is being the first serial number of the 231- prefix. Nothing else.

Just like currency collectors who accumulate unusual serial numbers, I am sure someone would pay a premium for this serial numbered 10-22. I lucked out with a Henry Lever octagon barreled color case hardened serial #500

according to R.L. Wilson's book, all #4 serial numbered guns were sold to a Ruger employee.....whose name was not listed.
