Micro Sight

Talked to guy at gunshow today that claimed he had a micro sighted single six. Very early sixties model. He said barrel was 5 or 6". No box, extra cylinder only gun. He claimed condition was around 90%. I will be in his area in a few weeks and will look at gun. My question is how much value does the Micro Sights add to the value of the gun.

I paid 300.00 for this 1950's RSS round gate,from Rugerguy without the factory stags but it does have a harder to find undercut front micro sight so I sent him 100.00 more out of my trying to do the right thing :wink: so 400.00 for this about 90% gun about 3 years ago and really don't shoot it just collect them about a 100.00 more for the sights maybe more or less depends on if you find a person who just wants a microed RSS, rarety and condition still rule the asking price....I have done a little cosmetic work to this gun.

Heres a Flatgate RSS Micro that Wayne turned me on to. Paid $550.00.
Note the different front sight, hope this helps you out.

Yup, the "aftermarket" jumped into the game soon after Ruger introduced their new .22 cal. six-shooter.

Of course, we collectors go crazy over this stuff!

PS One question to the group. How many have a "trigger stop" as shown above? There's one, installed, in the image above. I think I have one more in my "parts box".............

Carl, I have never seen one except yours :!: :!: got to be rare aftermarket item 8) on priceing I have seen guys not selling their microed RSS with 1,000.00 dollar offers just one of those things some collectors do not want to sell :arrow: even though not factory.I heard that the one in Dougans 1980's book sold for around 2,000.00 a noted collector was going to get it for me but it sold to a California collector before he could get back to the owner............. LURE AND LORE OF RUGER COLLECTING :lol:

I found one in the package at the Dallas Market Hall gun show last year. It was in a box of small parts.
I have a slight urge put it in my Micro Sighted Tri-Color Lightweight, but having the packaged part is just to cool.

What this person has may be a Super Single-Six. Some of the early guns in the 500,000 range had Micro rear sights.

Wouldn't it be cool if it turns out to be a Super single six with Micro factory sight! Although they weren't introduced till 1964...but you never know.

Flatgate those are neat,,excellent detail.
Heres a different type of Micro used on this RSS that I tried to buy. If you look on page 70 of "Great Western Arms Company" you can see this style of sight on the rare Target Model :wink: .

Not sure myself about that. I have a picture somewhere of a Micro with the screw hole as you described.

Thanks for sharing. I see a note stating "not for New Models" so that tells me the trigger stop was marketed at least up into the early "New Model" era.

Great Western target model Micro Sight had no dovetail tab, so it was just screwed on with two screws through the top strap. It ends up being more elegant than you'd think.

Heres the pic of Matt's gun. Like Sack says they are quite nice.

I checked an old micro catalog and I'm pretty sure the picture of the first one I posted (with out screw hole) was designed for a auto pistol.
