So why would the Feds evacuate a solar observatory out in the middle of the New Mexico desert?

Reports that a Blackhawk helicopter and federal agents swooped in and inexplicably evacuated a remote part of New Mexico, including a prominent solar observatory, has some corners of the internet predictably atwitter about a possible alien coverup.

FBI agents showed up at the Sunspot solar observatory in tiny Sunspot, New Mexico, on Friday and shut down the facility, evacuating the local area, including the Sunspot post office.

"There was a Blackhawk helicopter, a bunch of people around antennas and work crews on towers, but nobody would tell us anything," Otero County Sheriff Benny House told the Alamogordo Daily News. "I don't know why the FBI would get involved so quick and not tell us anything."

Five days later, the observatory's website confirms the entire facility is closed to both staff and the public until further notice.

"The Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy (AURA) who manages the facility is addressing a security issue at this time," AURA spokesperson Shari Lifson said in an emailed statement. "It's a temporary evacuation of the facility. We will open it up as soon as possible."

inter-stellar visitors on the way?

There's some interesting things within a 20 mile radius of the site. Holloman AFB, Alamogordo (nukes), and the White Sands Missile Range. Might have something to do with that. Sunspot is at 9100ft alt., and from there you get a clear line of sight view of Holloman and White Sands. Something going on there that the USAF doesn't want anyone taking pictures of, ala' Area 51?

Back in 1999 I was working in the Tularosa valley on projects for Union Pacific Railroad near the north end of the White Sands range. On three different nights we were out there late and would turn off the generator and go dark for awhile so we could star gaze before heading back to the motel in Ruidosa

we saw some pretty strange moving lights and stationary objects hovering at high altitude. Our USAF security escort who unlocked gates for our access roads for us said the high stationary objects were most likely "Iridium Flares" which he described as colors given off of light refraction on solar panels of geosynchronous satellites the USAF has positioned in the area for tracking test launches on the high altitude cameras onboard.

Kind of made sense but then we started seeing more of them especially over the mountains and desert floor area that is "Stallion Station" the site of the 1st atom bomb test NE of White Sands, hovering just above the horizon and literally sparkling with red, blue, yellow and green flickering lights

Speaking of "White Sands" and "Hollowman AFB"...in 1981-82...do not remember which....I was coming down the west face of the mountain on the highway, leading into Tularosa. Was two in the morning, and I witnessed a test firing of the rocket sleds that are on the north side of Hollowman AFB. The intensity of the burn lite up the entire area surrounding me as I drove down the highway. Next day, I was staying with friends who live just outside of Las Cruses, and he works at White Sands as a machinest. I told him about the run of the rocket sled the night before. His only comment was …"You DID NOT see any rocket sled test run." Was all he was willing to say about it.

Why do UFO's always have running lights?

Hi,

Federal safety regs. We don't seem to have 'em in CA anymore. Probably because they haven't been ok'd for emissions! Or else the mfr won't put the Prop 65 warning sticker on them? ;)

Do you suppose one or more of the academics at the observatory were Russian or Muslim? Of course, simple spying is too mundane for the conspiracy theorists.

It's worse than anyone can possibly imagine.

Fortunately, the government can't be everywhere at once.

Ironically, the witches are fighting the aliens, too, but for different reasons.

In 1984 I spent a month working a area in White Sands for my outfit guarding something on graveyard. Maybe it was because of stuff another security type told me he had seen but the area seemed kind of creepie.
I was alone every night with no one in over 20 miles. It was a quiet but interesting assignment.
Not there, but on a similar deal elsewhere in the middle of nowhere on the dessert I was guarding a article in the middle of the night and heard a pack of dogs come towards me barking. They were pulling a dog sled on wheels! The man told me he was practicing for the "Iditarod" dog race!
Several times I had civilian tin foil hat nut types sneaking around trying to see what we were about plus we occasionally were "tested" by government spooks to keep us on our toes. Once I was assigned to a AF base guarding something and was jumped in a black hanger with a over dedicated spook who yelled out at me "Freeze! I got a gun on ya!" He knew we werent suppose to be armed there as it was a AF base. I went along with the drill but afterward got into it with him big time. Except for that area I was always armed and could have been there despite rules. Ended up neither one of us reported the incident to our betters. I worked about 32 of 35 years on graveyard on that job and it`s a different world at night.

The blackout is no accident. It is deliberate and has federal urgency. Quoting an "ongoing security concern" it has been under strict FBI control since Sept 6, 2018.

And for all the "space alien" joking, there are real thermonuclear weapons less than 25 miles away, under FBI control today.
