We've talked about a friend for our dog, Blizzard. We just brought her home last night and her name is "Rainy" (Australian Sheppard) So far, Blizzard really likes her, the cat? no, not so much... She is actually a half sister to Blizzard, who is 3 and a half years old. (same dad, different mom...you know, one of those "modern families." ha, ha, ha...)

I'm sure you will see more pictures of her in the future. :D She should be about 50 pounds or so when fully grown. Blizzard is 60, but when we leave the house, he chows down on the cat's food. We finally put it up on a high shelf so Rainy can't get to it...this should help with fatso as well.

That is one cute pup! I am not a 'dog person', however if I ever were to acquire a dog that is exactly the 'brand' I would go for. They are so smart and energetic.

As a breed they are just simply hands down the best family dog you could hope for. They are highly intelligent without a mean bone in them anywhere.

Thanks to all !!! I certainly hope we don’t need to change the batteries in her eyes. They are a lot deeper blue than Blizzard’s eyes. The blue eyes are a characteristic of the breed. This breeder had some puppies with one blue eye and one brown, it otherwise they seemed to be blue.

It’s kind of weird. Our old cat had piercings blue eyes also. A real vibrant blue.

I want to know how dogs get their patterns in different hair color. It fascinates me.

Man's best friend! Truer words have never been spoken! A good dog is irreplaceable!
Good luck and don't spoil Rainy too much! ps

Kevin; That is one cute puppy; would love to have one, but when you check the prices people want, I kinda choke up with a very thin wallet.
Have you checked Pet finder? You can do a breed specific search.

Go to AKC site. Should be able to find genetics and how to breed for color. We bred Shelties for the Blue Merle pattern. Black is dominant. Grey is a shattered allele etc.
