On the right side of the feed ramp on my Mark 111 there is a lump that I can not identity. It looks like maybe a build up of shaved lead!!! Or, is it part of the design?
There is nothing like it on the left side of the feed ramp.
Does anybody know what this is?

Went to the Range and when I retracted the bolt the "lump" was gone.
Could not gently remove it before. Now have to watch that area occasionally.

How to clean the area between the retracted bolt and chamber?

Remove the barrel/receiver

It could very well be lead build-up. Feed ramps are often left fraught with tool marks from machining that will abrade lead bullets. One trick I learned eons ago was to use a cotton swab (Q-Tip for those in El Paso :D ) and drag it along the edges and sides of the feed ramp. If cotton fibers are pulled from the cotton swab, you have sharp edges, or burrs that will shave lead and cause lead build up until that area is polished and all sharp edges and burrs are removed.
