Mark 1 Question

A friend of mine recently aquired a Mark1 with an "S" under the RUGER mark. Can someone shed some light on this "S" mark. He was told by the dealer that it stood for seconds but I am somewhat sceptical about that. Thanks

Yes the "S" stands for second. Could you post a picture and get a serial number? Would like to know if it looks like this..

Rick, appears that you ave a "BACKWARDS" S.....or maybe just an "UPSIDE DOWN" S......not sure what my guns S looks like....RR.

its "right side up" for a "lefty",OR looking from the top,down.......... 8)
