Recently acquired a well used Blackhawk 357 that I would like to do a complete disassembly for cleaning and inspection.

Any recommendations on a good basic disassembly/reassembly manual that will cover all of the Ruger single action family models (BH, Single Six, SBH and Bearcat)?

Thanks

Assuming you have a new model, I recommend a 3 part article at the Real Guns site:

Also, Google can direct you to youtube videos.

I highly recommend the "Gun Digest of Firearm Assembly/Disassembly" "Revolvers" by J.B. Woods. An excellent total disassembly guide, with pictures & tips.

Be careful if you use YouTube for help. There's some great stuff on there, but there's getting to be more and more ding dongs putting videos out. They cause more problems than solutions.

Be patient if it's your first time. They can be a little frustrating. I remember one time, I pulled the grip frame before pinning the hammer spring... I'll never make that mistake again!

Thanks guys.

I've seen several of the videos and most were helpful but just prefer a manual laid out on the bench.

Looked at the J B Woods book on amazon and will probably get it and maybe the Official NRA Guide for Pistols and Revolvers

Now I need to order some gunsmithing screwdrivers and punches...

Damn, I love this addiction.…..I mean hobby

I think all you'll need is the JB Woods book, (besides the tools!). Mine are priceless when I need to really get into a gun.

If you go to the Ruger website here:
http://ruger.com/service/productHistory.html#

You can view and print out the Owner's Manual which has complete instructions and diagrams, or request a free copy be mailed to you.

Yup - don't need anything but the original owner's manual.
