I am getting used to my Ruger 1911, but still not sure about the magazine release. Does anyone else think it sticks out too far?

No. It's a standard 1911 mag release. You'll get used to it and love it.

No Rev, it's an extended magazine release.

PERFORMANCE: Positive barrel lock-up allows for a superior accuracy out-of-the-box. Oversized ejection port and
extended magazine release enhance competition performance.

In that case ... I stand corrected, and wouldn't like it.

I want my 1911's as close to original spec as possible ... its what I'm used to.

Sorry ... didn't realize it had an extended MR.

The more I know about that gun, with the cheap looking MIM black parts, rough looking stainless finish, and sight and rust issues ... the better the R1 and MilSpec look.

I compared my SR1911's to an older Kimber and the Ruger's mag. release stuck out about 1/16-1/8" more. I don't know about other brand 1911's. Sometimes a little is a lot...

I swapped out mine with a standard size SS Ed Brown one. Not because I didn't like the length. It just felt really gritty and never smoothed up with use.
