Magazine release binding

My SR1911 mag release will bind on the magazine if I push it in too far. It contacts the non-slot side of the mag. This makes the mag not drop free, unless I release some pressure, allowing the mag release to retract a small amount. This happens with Ruger, CMI, Colt, and Wilson mags.
A new to me 1998 Colt Combat Commander does not do this.
So, i took the mag releases and tried to swap them. The Colt fits into the Ruger and works fine, but there is a gap around the "backside" in the keyhole area where the release screw is. The Ruger release keyhole is bigger and will not fit in the Colt. I recognize the Ruger release appears to be mildly extended as the button is longer.

Has anybody had the mag release issue?
Has anybody tried replacing their slide release on the Ruger with aftermarket?

Thanks in advance

My SR1911 had the same problem. I just removed the extra material on the inside of the mag release and problem went away. I've had the same problem on other 1911's and use the same cure.
Never had that problem with any of my Colts.

Made another post but got to thinking. I owned a Springfield and I had to tweak the magazine release on it exactly this way! Had to tweak the mag lips too for reliable feeding. Interesting I would see this in another 1911 thread. Yep. It's an easy fix.
