Out burning some brush this afternoon in my back yard when this fella shows up out of no where. My nearest neighbor is a mile away so who know where he came from. Real nice and knows a few commands, but no collar or tag. I can tell you, he does like Vienna Sausages...

Looks pretty much at home to me. Sorta like the young solid black cat that appeared on my back step one morning, acting as if he'd been living there for years. That was 6 months, (a vet visit and several bags of food) ago. Extremely friendly cat that follows me like a good dog and does his best to sleep as much as possible otherwise. I believe I was adopted.

Labs and other great dogs are a gift.

I discovered one wandering my neighborhood. I sat on the curb til he decided he could trust me, then I called the owner via his dog tag. Since then, the dog escapes just to come visit me. :D

Don’t they always? :)

Yup, a dog after my own heart..

When i was a homeless kid in NY, I would sometimes scrounge up enough money to buy a small can of Vienna Sausage.. I would then get a hard roll and make a sandwich out of them.. Not bad eating back then.. And was grateful for it.. I still like them, till this day I will sometimes make a sandwich the same way..

Well, the animal control lady came out and checked him out. No chip, and she hasn't heard of anyone looking for him. She said he's mine if I want him, or she offered to take him to the pound. So, looks like I've made a new family member, I'll tell my son to come up with a name when he gets home from school. Should make his day.

That's funny.. Because that is the name I gave my male cat that just decided to make himself at home here..

He was living his life as a stray that was going from door to door trying to find help.. He finally decided he wanted to live with me.. I named him Gypsy due to his lifestyle..

So far, he's been the best darn cat I've ever had.. He's my boy.. And I don't even like cats.. That's the funny thing about it.. I hate cats because of their sneaky personality and the fact that they just like to kill things for no other reason than just to do it..

But yet, I like this cat for some reason.. Only cat I can truly say, I ever liked or have feelings for.. And he really is a good animal.. Doesn't damage anything, and is a good tempered cat.. Not mean at all..

Some of the best animals I've ever had were strays..

Congratulations on the new family member Snowninja! I'm sure he'll be happy he has a new home..

Pets deserve real names .... not fluffy, Fido, lady, etc.

Pick him a name a man could be proud of like Chuck, Sam, Hector, etc. not a frilly "tag".

Dogs I had over the years were named Castro, Everett, Sam, Bud and others .....

Maybe his name is in your thread title. He reminds me of one I had, named Partner. Good dog. Congrats on your new Buddy.

Don't be surprised if one day he takes off and goes home. Have you checked with your neighbors? Real shame no collar or tag.
That dog has not been running loose, he belongs to someone.

Looks just like the Black Lab mix I adopted from our local shelter last month. He's a real lover boy and will lick you to death. He also was found wandering the streets with no collar or chip. Good luck on your new best friend. :)

I have been trying to talk myself into getting a lab myself . And I always thought I would name it Kitty. “ Here Kitty!” Just thought that would be perfect.
That way I would have the neighbors thinking I really flipped my lid. they think I am close now, but this would clinch it.

A starving black lab showed up at my house a number of years ago and I took pity on her and put out some food. She was afraid to go to the dish if I was near it, so I threatened to name her scaredy cat if she stayed around.
That is the true story of how I had a dog named Cat.
