ok i've swapped stocks on my Rugers countless times but i've not ran into this one before. i have a early 90's all weather .243 that i took out of the boaqt paddle stock and put into a laminate stock that i cut down for my kids to use. well the youngest boy is to the point now where he could use a standard LOP stock and i picked up a black synthetic hollow (non boatpaddle) factory stock (sold off the boat paddle years ago) for a short action and when i tried to place the .243 into it the barrel channel profile is way off. did they offer an even narrower/slender barrel profile for some of the short action selections out there such like the .223 or 22-250? now i need to decide if i'm going to open it up or sell it and look for the proper stock.

Sounds like you ended up with the synthetic for a Ultra-lite.....
that was my first thought. i have always been under the impression that the barrel contours for all the SA where the same unless it was a target/varment model or Ultra-lite regarless of the caliber within the SA family.

Huntsmans correct, It's for the ultralite barrel contour which is smaller than the std. light sporter barrel contour.

If anyone was looking for a ultra-lite stock and wants to swap with me, speak up before before I take it to it.
