Are these for the 44 Mag and 44 special?

Mike, I realize that. I reload for all 4 cals, Russian, Colt, Special and Mag. However, I looked on the Lyman web site and they do not list any dies for the Russian/Colt rounds, just the 44 special/mag rounds.

I asked the question for anyone thinking on buying for clarification.

If I understand correctly.... if the dimensions are the same except for length, the use of dies for a shorter case length can be used for longer case lengths. Just like one can reload 44 mag on dies for a 44 Spl.... 357 mag on 38 Spl.... .32 H&R mag on 32 S&W Long......

True up to a point. If you use a crimp die made for the 44mag, then you can't screw it down far enuf to crimp the Colt or Russian. Now if Lyman were to make a crimp die for the 44 Russian, then you shud be able to use it on the Colt, Special or mag cases.

They make the standard set of special/mag dies and you have to use a spacer on the crimp die to crimp the mag case.

The only company making a Russian/Colt/special crimp die is RCBS. At least to my knowledge but someone may know of another company that does.

I looked on the Lyman web site and did not see any Russian/Colt specific dies.

The box says 44 Russian on it. However I think I later learned I could load them on the 44 Mag Special die set if I wanted to? I already had the 44 mag dies when I ordered these but I purchased a 44 Russian,44 colt conversion gun so I ordered the Lyman 44 russian die set. Now I no longer have the gun so I do not need the 44 russian die set.Hope this helps. olsherm
