LOTS of gas

Was sitting in the local Waffle House and looking at all the traffic and started thinking about the gas being used. I did a "Google" and found some interesting numbers. From the US Energy Administration from a September 2017 survey. In 2016 we used 143.37 Billion gallons of gasoline or an average of 391.73 million gallons per day. That is a LOT of gas!

How much gasoline is wasted sitting in the drive thru lane of your favorite fast food joint.

I usually park and go in to order my take out.

I recently spent 3 days back in Columbia MO, visiting family. I believe I spent more time sitting at lights during those 3 days than I did in 3 months commuting to work every day.

My drive throughs take 30 seconds. I don’t waste gas! If there is a long line, I go elsewhere.

Sounds to me like you are smoking way too much.....

As for gasoline usage... I say let's use it up and then we'll have to figure out something else.... I leave my work van running a lot of the time in the summer so that my dog Beauregard can stay cool.

If the 143 billion gallons used is correct, then about 8 billion gallons were wasted from one scam. Adding 10 percent alcohol to gasoline for auto fuel requires from 3 to about 8 percent more gas/alcohol combined per each MPG required to operate the autos.

Without adding ethanol to the gasoline, that same miles traveled using 143 billion gallons would require closer to 135 billion gallons of pure gasoline.
