I own a nice 4" GP100 that came with the rubber Hogue grips. I find the grips comfortable, although perhaps a little big for my hands, but they are ugly and I find it hard to use my HKS speedloaders with them. I'd like to replace the grips with something more conventional, e.g., wooden or even the wooden/rubber combo as on the SP101. The Ruger shop doesn't have much to offer. Hogue offers wooden grips but I can't tell if they much different from the rubber ones in terms of size and for use with a speedloader. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I also find the rubber finger groove Hogue grips too big. Seems to me their wood version is same size as the rubber ones.
My 3" GPs use the compact grips, the 6-incher sports the bigger factory grips with wood inserts. As in many cases, there are few grips better than what they left the factory with.

You can find the "original" and "compact" GP100 grips on Gunbroker and eBay. I have seen some VERY nice inserts made for them (if you want something different.)

Altamont has beautiful grips for the GP, both the rubber parts, and the inserts. They are the larger ones that used to come on the adjustable sight GP's, not the compact ones. But still a big improvement IMHO, over the Houges.

I have done that, not on a GP100, but a 686 I used to have. The grips did not have finger grooves on them. I did sand down the palm swells
on the sides and at the back bottom sand a flat at an angle to eliminate printing. It looked like a Ed Brown Bobtail 1911 in shape. Hogue gave
me the idea on a set I had on a 629 Mountain Gun that they did.
An alternative is to order Herretts grips in the desired configuration. They will make a set to fit your hand. I had a Redhawk that had
Hogue wood grips which were too large for good trigger reach. I ordered a set of Roper grips and they fit my hand perfectly, especially

Another alternative would be to get some round butt grips for the GP off Ebay. There is a maker in Thailand that has a number of

You wouldn't know it from their web site--you'd have to call to order them--but Badger makes a wood boot grip for the GP; I found mine on a forum ad. I'm told the newer ones are made with clearance for speedloaders, but mine needed a bunch of sanding for that. Works great now.
(And yes I was being creative with Photoshop with the serial number.)

Try the short grip of the 3" barreled GP100. I tried several grips on my GP100 and found that Ruger had it right the first time. Seems those grips are in demand on the used parts places and prices are starting to go up on them!
I have both the compact and the full size old Lett style grips with the wood inserts. This picture has both 3" barreled models 1 with the compact grips and the other with the full size.
The compacts take the same wood insert as the SP. Got the compact grips from Midway but they have been out of them for months,

I prefer the GP compact grip, on any GP100, to any other grip.
I have 3 GPs, latest arrival is the matte blue Wiley Clapp. I immediately switched out to the compact grip. I purchased a couple extra from brownells when they had them in stock. I have one left.
For inserts I prefer Chad Robinett panels.

I doubt you'll track down ebay fraud, even if you do there is nothing you can do about it.
The bottom line as I see it,
These were the best grips for the GP100, if you plan on carrying it, the price will continue to rise because the demand is there, until somebody starts to make them again, then they will be worth $10 again. Hopefully it is sooner than later.
I wonder if Ruger is loosing sales because of this issue?
If I had a new GP, I'd get the standard grips from Altamont, they are small enough. No way I'd spend a lot of money on the compact grips. Ed
