I had to pick up a few things at my local Walmart today. Per my usual habit, I went straight to sporting goods to check on ammo availability. As usual, the shelves were pretty bare. I saw the clerk for that section, and asked if they were expecting any .44 CFC ammo. The clerk had a confused, vacant stare, like I didn't know what I was talking about.
Imagine that!? I went on to explain the cartridge, and the clerk whipped out a "Cartridges of the World" and found it. He then informed me that, no, they had none available.
But seeing as I had redeemed myself in showing my knowledge for obscure cartridges, he informed me they had just received a huge shipment of a new proprietary cartridge from SE Idaho. He went on to tell me it was called the SIXSHOT .480 Meathammer Buck/Bull/Badger Basher. WOW!!! Good Ol' Dick had a new cartridge named after him. I've seen Duck Commander shotgun shells, John Wayne commemorative ammo, but now my good buddy Dick Thompson had his own ammo!!!
It consists of a 385 gr cast HP bullet(naturally) driven to about 1100 fps. It is a dandy cartridge named after a dandy guy!
As you can see, it is a sharp looking piece of brass. The badger tracks are Dicks unofficial trademark as he is the badgers scourge of the NW United States. Congratulations Dick on having a large Ammo Co Acknowledge your accomplishments in the game fields.
By this time, I was pretty excited, and asked the clerk if I could buy some of this new SIXSHOT .480 meat hammer ammo. A wry smile crossed the clerks face, and he showed me the ammo can deal that the cartridges came in. Top marketing experts predict record sales for the new ammo and manufactured several thousand cases of it!
I bought 4 ammo boxes and left. As I was leaving, people saw me lugging my treasure, and a crowd quickly formed in the sporting goods section. I hope Ruger takes notice and comes out with a 5 shot Bisley in .480 Meathammer. The ammo is here, now we need something to shoot it in.
