Logging in

Does anyone else get a frequent "the board is currently disabled" when trying to log in? Seems to happen 2-3 X a day the last week or so.

It didn't used to be so bad, it mainly happened to other members. Now it is happening to me! It's okay when it happens to other people, but now that it is happening to me something needs to be done about it!

I tried every trick I know and none of them worked this morning.

yes I have, worst it's ever been couldn't get on at all last night, 9 out of 10 tries today I couldn't get on, I just got on now after trying for the last hour and once I do get on I still get the board is currently disabled thing when changing categories' or trying to respond to a thread, this forum is close to being nonfunctional now.

I'm not complaining just telling what's going on for me.

Just now tried to post this response the board is currently disabled keeps popping up not letting me post, I'll keep trying

ADDED: tried to edit this post right after I finally got it to post and the board was disabled for over a hour.

The forum was that way all last night and all morning. (Going through the forum index, in fact) Well I forgot what I was gonna post. If it becomes relevant enough, I'm sure I'll remember.

If I go to the form index when it happens all I get is "the board is currently disabled" in red letters and I am stuck there can not go any place.

I'm worried were going to start losing members if this Keeps up, there are not many people posting now days as it is.

I can't get on fully 50% of the time so I'm posting a lot less. I'm worried the forum will crash permanently.

Would it help if everyone makes sure they log out when they leave? I noticed some times if I don't I come back a hour or so later I'm still logged in, I'm guessing the uses up bandwidth ?

Things are working better today, did someone do something?

It is the new norm. Running from the Index page doesn't cure anything, sometimes you cannot even get there! Search and "view your posts" usually don't work at all.
And yes, my "internet time" is finite so I usually just move to another forum especially for technical conversations...

One thing I notice is the resurgence in animation and links, which sometimes trigger the "board unavailable" message for me. Another is the noumber of bots occupying the board at any time - aggravated by yahoo, google, and Bing "bots" (links to surveys and questionairres, etc. allow these into the site). Bots copy and track everything & everyone, and soak up bandwidth from the main site.
Stop posting the animation, mindless survey links and I'd bet the bots will decrease instantly.
