My favorite local shop got it in today and called to let me know. I ran over, looked, and couldnt leave it behind. We installed the Leupold 1.5-5x20. I love those scopes. My 450/400 NE Ruger no1 wears one well also.
Looking forward to the 35 Whelen.

Rugers open sights are more graceful than the other mid price American designs, Rem, Win, Sav.

I have a couple big bore No. 1 and totally get the "club-like" analogy… short, handy, and hefty, and very manageable at about 8.5# each and NECG sights. I wouldn't want a 6.5# big bore with a pencil-thin 26" barrel!

The 223 is one Im looking for. Tough to find and prices are what I consider crazy. Lucky.

Jump on it if you find one Professor. I've been shooting it more than any other rifle since I acquired it. With the heavy barrel it swings nicely at my club's monthly running Deer matches and I haven't been able to find a load that it doesn't shoot well.

Mine is not clublike. Handles great for me. Might be heavy with the barrel bands but its much cooler than a lighter contour no sight gun.
Mine is a much leaner tang RS that I added a sling swivel band to and bedded it into a synthetic stock. Even with the factory stock with sights it was light as the barrel was very lean. I thought the new one would go at least 9# scoped which is a pound more than my Win M70 375 H&H goes. I am happy you like it. Just not for me.
