All, sometimes hard to find a holster solution off the rack for custom big bores. Bigger barrels, different sights, larger cylinders and other slight alterations can all lead to ill fitting, or even non fitting holsters otherwise designed specifically for Blackhawks or vaqueros.
Add one more stock holster to the list of those that can be made to fit quite nicely.
I had contacted diamond D some time ago and they had said they'd not make a holster for a linebaugh specifically. Being in the area last week, I picked a 4 5/8 BH holster up in Wasilla on my drive through for a Bowen vaquero, with the hopes it would fit my linebaugh 500 BH.
In short, it didn't fit at first.
Softened the leather a bit by working it with my hands, took my leather burnishing tool I use for making sheaths and really worked the sight channel , the ejection rod housing channel, and then wrapped the whole gun in Saran Wrap and inserted into the holster. Left overnight and now a nice, snug, yet non-binding fit.
Was Leary at first about a chest carry option, having always carried in a ringler linebaugh holster, but my hips felt a lot better having this centered on my chest after a long day of mountain climbing. No bouncing, no binocular issues ( I use a harness and position the binos under my left arm so as to not interfere with drawing my bow, and no backpack issues. In short, I'm sold.
Just passing on to anyone apprehension of dropping $200 on a 'stock' holster for anyone wanting it for a linebaugh BH or vaquero.
