Sounds like what happed to NFL QBs Joe Theismann and Alex Smith; Smith nearly lost his leg as a direct consequence of his break. I've heard some reports they were considering the possibility of amputation for Vonn, too.

Yep. I'm not fond of some of her actions/comments, but man, nobody deserves a wound like that.

I haven't watched the Olympics or such in some time. And it's apparent that it too has become a very left leaning,, anti-freedom type of platform more & more in the last several years.

It's horrible,, that a person is on a Team,, for the USA,, and yet, they denounce the USA,, or try & make all kinds of political statements. Especially when they do so that demeans or degrades the very Country they are supposed to represent.

As such,, I refuse to follow any of them,, and haven't for a long time. When the media will actually broadcast the shooting sports parts,, and also fawn over those athletes, the way they do over some of the others,, then I might consider watching them.

But the fact that this skier has suffered a horrible injury,, is sad. But ALL serious professional or top level athletes will push very hard to win, and as such,, risk injuries.
I do wish for her to have a successful recovery. But other than that,, I choose to ignore the rest.

For those that don't know, the TSA has a TSA Notification Card where you can list things like surgically installed metals. Apparently it really doesn't do any good, but I have one anyway. I also carry a certificate from my doctor stating that I have (and I love the way he put it) non-surgically implanted metals. The certificate I have goes back to when the larger airports, Los Angeles in particular, first started screening. It doesn't really do any good either, but the last time I used it the TSA minion looked at me confused and asked what "non-surgically implanted" meant. Then called for a supervisor. I kind of like messing with the TSA when time permits.

The last time I flew I used my solid aluminum cane. Knowing the TSA aren't the brightest I expected to receive some grief. I did. But the moment I brought up the ADA the supervisor shut up and cleared me.

She's young, superbly fit and tough but I imagine she will go through a lot of discomfort in getting over this injury.

I am old, not particularly fit even for 82, and just two weeks ago went through knee revision surgery. The prosthetic knee that I had put in just over 20 years ago had given up the ghost. This current surgery was not only more extensive than the original knee replacement because of the bone loss and scar tissue from the first surgery, but I am 20 years older. These past two weeks have been very, very rough and the three times a week physical therapy has been very difficult. My goal is to able to ride my motorcycle by about mid-April. Her injury is so much more severe than what I am going through, and her goal is to get back to skiing, so I wish her well and do not envy her pain.

I’ll speculate that she probably would’ve just had her knee torn to shreds from rotational motion, but the brace from the earlier ACL injury held that tight so something else had to give.

My son, who just turned 18 on the 13th, is going in to replace a torn ACL in a month. Unfortunately, he will miss his senior year of High School Soccer, but even with a really expensive brace, he couldn't do it. What shocked me was finding out that the surgery is a 45 minute, out patient procedure.

So you have a blown ACL but, at 41, are still going to ski in the Olympics. What did you think was going to happen?

I was really happy to enjoy full coverage of Biathalon shooting for HOURS this time. Men's and Women's events both. Nice trend. As far as the Lindsey hate, some of you haters live to be such.

I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of biathlon shown during the day and prime time.

Regarding Lindsay, I am not aware of her being an ingrate, but I don’t keep up with that.

Not the hockey team though. From what I saw they acted appropriately.
Can’t say I watched much but those downhill skiers lay it all out. And the half pipe skiers do some amazing moves too.
