I have a 10/22 build that shoots 17hm2.
It has a volq. trigger group and a titanium firing pin, whistlepig barrel.
Also a synthetic recoil stop.i am experiencing light strikes.just barely denting the primer and not detonating the round. This is /was my go to pesky critter getter. need to restore it to that designation.
Any insight would be helpful..thx

A few things to check, but I would start with a good cleaning of the bolt, bolt face, and chamber. Then check to make sure your firing pin isn't peened over or chipped and the hammer spring is clean and in its proper slot.

Is this a rifle you built or had built? Have you tried different ammo?

I went through exactly the same thing on a new build. I took the titanium firing pin out and re-installed the factory pin. I installed a VQ extractor and slowly thumbed the bolt open just enough for the extractor to clear the barrel while carefully watching. Then I would slowly let the bolt slide forward while watching to make sure the extractor was entering the extractor cut out perfectly centered in the cut out in the barrel. I also watched to see if the extractor was hanging up in the barrel cut out. I took one pin head sized drop of NECO moly paste and applied with a wooden toothpick to the extractor cut out in the barrel. Never a problen since for me. That was about 25K rounds ago in that rifle. Not saying thats your problem, Just look everything over good and you will find the issue. Also give it a good clean slick chamber.

Thanks I will look at that extractor groove.i installed the barrel maybe I did not get it perfect. Anything else I can chk. Besides a good cleaning.

Check the firing pin protrusion. I have never found an OEM firing pin the met the standard of 0.025" minimum firing pin protrusion; 0.035" is better.

I dress the back of the bolt down until I get the proper FP protrusion. FTF problems become a thing of the past.
