Liberty Speed Six Price Check?

Liking the Victory Ruger's myself, I just stumbled onto a 1976 Liberty Speed Six. It has the "snubbie" 2 3/4" bbl in excellent shape with box and paperwork.

I can't say that I've ever seen another "Liberty" SPEED Six before. How common are they?

The gun is avaliable for $700 which seems like an awful lot of money to me, but then again.....how many have I seen?

I think EVERY gun they made in 1976 is labeled as a "Liberty" gun.

Seems like $700 is HUGE money unless of course, it's 3" or 9MM, etc.

I think I would disagree with the GS-32 vis GS-34. I think he has it backward - the GS-34 is more rare then the GS-32.
Article is a bit old - one man's observations at the time.
Just my $0.02 worth.

I was grinding my teeth reading through the Speed Six section and seeing the comments about the GS-32 as I passed on a really nice on on Gun Broker this past week. After reading it, I thought I really passed up a rare one there!

A well known Ruger Collector once said "Until You Prove Me Wrong"
and there are alot of Old Articles on collecting Rugers with one mans observations at that time on various models, which when combined with others give us a clearer picture. I call that Collecting, kind of helps piece things together. My $0.02

Actually I agree with you - just seems to me that the combined observations over the last few years, often on this forum, suggests the idea that the 4" speed sixes are less common than the 2 3/4" inch versions. On the other hand, I think the 4" Service Six is more common than the short barrelled versions.

We won't know for sure until Ruger releases the data base. Even so, it could be that in 1976, the actual production numbers differ.

I think there was at least one not labeled as a liberty gun. I had one--a Colorado Centennial Single Six. Don't miss it a bit :wink:
