Less than lethal alternative being tested in Ferguson

Interesting device being tested by Ferguson, MO police. I think it takes precious time away from the officer under threat, but the video claims that it would only be viable for use if the officer has 3 or more seconds. If I were an LEO, I would worry about being second guessed any time I might have to use lethal force, i.e., being asked why I didn't use the less than lethal alternative. And I'm not so sure that it would knock the criminal down as claimed, since even a so-called lethal pistol round clearly does not always disable the person shot. I don't see any potential use by civilian concealed carriers, but who knows what a State legislature might require of us in the future.

Think if were a LEO in that 'hood, I'd be applying for jobs elsewhere. They will be under a microscope wielded by attornies that don't like them. A no win situation.

link for article and short video. http://www.washingtonpost.com/national/ferguson-mo-police-department-is-first-in-us-to-test-less-lethal-gun-attachment/2015/02/03/c6772af8-abb7-11e4-ad71-7b9eba0f87d6_story.html

I saw a thing on the news the other day that was a plastic thing that was slipped over the end of the gun and then shot at a person to stun them.

Sorry for the incorrect link. I thought I was linking to the article about what was mentioned in an earlier comment on this thread, the device that fits over the end of the semi-auto and fires a metal ball that is struck by the round fired. I'm surprised that I haven't seen much about this on the major networks on TV since it seems a natural for those who are interested in reducing the use of guns in a traditional way in any way possible. What will be interesting as well will be to see how often Ferguson PD chose to use this device, and how often they just fire their sidearm to defend themselves in the usual way.
