There's a long list of the tech being used by many govt's, police, private individuals, and companies for crowd control, deterrence and communication on land and sea, and so on. It can be lethal, but normally is not. Range can be up to a couple miles. It's an interesting and useful tech in many ways. In this assault to grab Maduro, I suspect it was deployed on the helo's.

I know that the Delta Force guys are really good, and that the Cubans guarding Maduro were likely not as good as they claim to be, but the reality that we killed 32 of them and did not lose a single American makes the thought of a new secret weapon sound more reasonable.

I got to (had to) work with panama's gardia national (army) in the early 80's.... they were a complete joke.... when the U.S went in to grab noriega in 90, it was reported to me by some involved that they were just as crappy as I remember.
I'd imagine this is pretty much true across the board for central and south america....
I do know that noriega was protected by his cartel guy's... not his army.....

Yes. Frequency and decibel output (up to around 160db or more) is controllable by the operator. They can do severe damage to internal organs at high settings. Think High C at 160b. The important part is the directional beam that's projected - kinda like a laser.
