He had some good stuff and it went way back.

Hi,

It's hard to believe he was that old. A buddy's then-wife was a big fan back around 1970 or so, and we went to see him in a little hole in the wall in San Bernardino, CA. It was one of those places that probably held about three dozen people or so, with a stage that was crowded with four people (learned that when my brother's bluegrass band played there on and off.) It was a great night, as Mr. Cohen was probably the first "big" name the place had ever hosted!

RIP, Mr. Cohen. You'll live on in our memories as long as someone plays your music...

I was unfamiliar with his work. Don't know why, just never connected with his stuff.

Then his Halleluiah was used over a stressful scene in an episode of The West Wing television series . . . and it really hit home. It's a very intense piece of work, in my estimation.

RIP, Mr. Cohen.

:(

I heard his latest song on the radio last week. Without a doubt he knew the end was close.

If you are the dealer, I'm out of the game
If you are the healer, it means I'm broken and lame
If thine is the glory then mine must be the shame
You want it darker
We kill the flame
Magnified, sanctified, be thy holy name
Vilified, crucified, in the human frame
A million candles burning for the help that never came
You want it darker
Hineni, hineni
I'm ready, my lord

Coincidentally I'm sure, but the last song that I heard before shutting my car off, on the night that he died, was this one...
