Was looking through my stuff and found 4 bottles of this. Opened them up and it has almost geled like hardened. Can you just warm up this stuff and melt it or is it trash now? Must be 20 years old but hate to trash it if it can still be used. Thanks

You can warm it in a double boiler on the kitchen stove, or alternately for :15 seconds at a time in your micro-wave. Thinning should be done with mineral spirits...Rod

I have a few small bottles of alox laying around my shop, and the thickness varies from tar to thick syrup. If I can't get any out of a bottle I'll heat it (dbl boiler) and then thin with mineral spirits to get the consistency I'm looking for...

Yep, yours is usable, just thin it.

Hi,

When I use Lee Liquid Alox, I "thin" it by setting the bottle in a coffee mug of boiling water. If the old stuff's that thick, add a bit of mineral spirits before warming, then stir it all together w/ a thin stick or screwdriver. Don't overdo the mineral spirits: you can add more easier than you can take some out!
