I know we have some very talented belt and holster makers on this forum. Any sources for wallets?

I like to keep a wallet so long that I forget where I got it and mine has finally starting to come apart. Hard to give up one that is so well broken in; but time to start looking.

So, what do you recommend?

I picked up an elephant hide wallet in South Africa 17 years ago. I'm still using it. :)

I got my last wallet from Waterfield Designs at SFbags.com. I chose a waxed canvas with leather accents over a full leather one. Made in the USA and excellent quality. Fairly thin which is what I like and a couple years later holding up incredibly well. I have the Finn and it has a locking zipper which is a really nice touch.

Hi I made my first wallet in jr high school out of a kit made by tandy (I think) never needed one before that but it wore out after about 20+years so my wife took it to a leather smith and had a exact copy made of it I finally wore it out 3 years ago after another 20 some years I have a store bought one now 3 years and it is shot I'm thinking of having another one made it would out last me

I wear out wallets like crazy due to work conditions and riding so a few years ago I bought an elephant hide wallet form a guy on the Accurate Reloading forum and it is tougher than nails. His name is Will and he has great stuff. I also bought a check of leather riding chinks from him and he customized them to fit my short legs and he is just a great guy to work with.

Wallets for guys are a really personal item, what one person likes the next guy won't, that's why they are hard to give as gifts. I carry a Coach 4 slot card case. Slim, trim and fits easily into front pocket. I carry only 2 credit cards, insurance card and drivers license.
I hate thick wallets. I've seen some that were nearly the thickness of a Webster's dictionary with the stuff some guys put in them that they think they need to carry.

Was sent this link and thought I would share; looks like what I am looking for:

There's a fairly local (I do pass by on my drive for work) saddlery shop. The fellow that does the work their always has a few on hand. I hate to get new wallets as it takes forever to get it to mold to my butt. A broke in wallet is like a nice pair of slippers, you never know it's there.

Duluth trading, the fire hose wallet is about the best there is IMHO.
I had one and it was great. After a while (years ) it started to break my credit cards...... maybe that was a good thing? The last leather wallet I bought was from a "tourist" shop in Cherokee, N.C. in June. It took a while to stretch it out, but now is doing fine.

If you want leather, get a Saddleback.

I need to pack a passport all the time, so I've got one of their Saddleback Passport Wallets. It is a lot more comfortable to sit on than most smaller wallets.

I'm looking for the George Costanza model. I have a lot of stuff to shove in there.

Yep. USA made too if I recall. I have one that has a nifty folder that comes out and you can put your DL on one side and your CCW on the other with a debit/credit card behind the cards. Just perfect for that. I often carry this and not the wallet and put cash in my pocket.

Tandy Leather seems to still be in business. just do a search. They may still have the same wallet kit, but don't expect to get it for what you paid in Jr Hi!
