I have a 4" Gp100 & S&W Model 649 1-7/8" J-frame revolver. I decided that I "needed" to add a 3" revolver. I looked at and handheld the Colt King Cobra & Viper, the S&W Model 60, the SP101and the LCRx 357. I went back & forth with my self and finally settled on the LCRx. As of now I do not plan to carry the LCRx, but if I did, the LCRx would be the most comfortable of all the others mentioned.

I picked up the LCRx earlier this week, took it home and cleaned it and on Friday took it to the range for it's first trial. I fired about thirty .38 specials and ten .357 magnums. The 38's were pretty comfortable to shoot, the 357 not so comfortable. If I want to shoot 357's, my GP100 fills the bill. For now, I plan on only shooting .38's in the LCRx and giving it a thorough cleaning after every range session.

During the range session I found that at thirty feet I was shooting low. I read somewhere that the factory sets the adjustable rear sight to fire at point of aim at 25 yards. I will adjust the sight at the next range session.

Ruger makes the LCRx in 38 special (I have one as well as the .357). It would seem that the 38 special model would have fit your needs better.

I posted awhile back, I was temporarily one-handed, so I bought a S&W model 638. Beautiful gun, but in no way for me was its shootability comparable to my LCRx. My LCRx is a very easy and comfortable gun to shoot.

Nice purchase. I’ve had mine for about 2 years. It’s my go to sidearm in the hunting woods. I agree that it is snappy with magnum loads and pleasant to shoot .38 spcls. It is by far the nicest magnum revolver to carry though. Takes a beating and always goes bang.

Dan, I considered the LCRx in 38 special but it is 6 oz. lighter than the 357. I am comfortable shooting my S&W 649 (38 special only) which is only one ounce heavier than the .357 LCRx. I felt that the shooting 38 specials in the LCRX would be comparable. Additionally, I still have the option of shooting 357's out of it.

yes, the 357 mags will tend to shoot lower, as they are faster, and need more distance to reach trajectory............;)
simply 'hold' a bit different when using one gun for both ammos, for all these years my 38s would be dead center and the 357 mags at 6 o'clock, I aint "readjusting the sights":rolleyes:................................no need to(y)
