Got two LCR's for my daughter. The grips are excellent. They have a good feel and the Hogue Tamer insert absorbs recoil very nicely. Subjectively, the polymer frame seems to absorb recoil to some extent. Trigger pull is excellent, sights are good, and the gun shoots well and accurately at any reasonable combat range.

The downside is that the excellent grips make pocket carry a bit of a challenge. They are a bit wide and bulky. Tried Ruger's Boot Grip, and while it is smaller and more concealable, its surface is slick making it hard to hold onto. Also, can't figure out why they needed such a bulbous trigger guard. It is the largest of any gun I have ever seen, which again makes pocket carry a bit more of a challenge.

So...if you are going to holster carry (either IWB or OWB), it is an excellent piece. If you are a big guy and you want to pocket carry, maybe not an issue. If you are a small man or a petite women, pocket carry might be a challenge!

Going to see if she would rather have a S&W J-frame for pocket carry.

Due to the design of ladies clothing, most ladies do not "pocket carry" so that usually isn't an issue. However, I constantly teach ladies that they have many more "variables" than men when it comes to fashion etc, so it makes it harder for manufacturers of accessories to have everything needed.
It still comes back to the basics of "fit & comfort."

Even for myslelf, it is to big to be an ideal pocket carry revolver. With the Boot grip it is more concealable, but that huge trigger guard isn't something you can change out like a grip. Can't figure out what Ruger was thinking???

Some people like the big trigger guard, because it's easier to fire with gloves. Have even heard that this will be the wave of the future. I think it may simply have been a structural necessity, seeing the grip frame is polymer (???).

The only thing I dislike is that the rear sight notch isn't deeper.

The Hogue boot grips do feel like the gun is going to squirt out of your hand, but the rubber front and back keeps it from doing so and the slick sides make it easier to pull out of a pocket that has a tight top. Also, I don't think that the trigger guard is too big to keep one from pocket carrying.

I carry my LCR 357 in Wrangler jeans front pocket with no problem. It just takes some determination and time to get used to pocket carry in general. If you have never pocket carried then the LCR seems a bit large, but I went to the LCR after carrying a KT PF9 for a few years, and adapted shortly. The Lcr somehow seems an easier draw from my UM pocket holster than the KT.

I carry my LCR .357 in the appendix position IWB with a Clip Draw (www.clipdraw.com). I have found that my LCR shoots very accurately (as much as I can) and it conceals great with the Clip Draw, even when wearing a tucked in T Shirt with Wrangler jeans. I have owned and carried Taurus and S&W snubbies and love the LCR above them all.

I have the .357 version. I like it. It is easy to pocket carry. It Shoots very nicely with Buffalo Bore heavy .38 +P 125 JHPs. Even the BB 140gr .357 Low recoil short barrel JHPs shot very well and not unpleasant.

I have the Ruger LCR 357 and pocket carry. I use a "Redhead" pocket holster I got from Bass Pro which fits great.

Preferred ammo is Remington Golden Sabre 125 grain. The lighter grain has less recoil combined with the hogue grip makes it very manageable. Love it!

Finally had the chance to wring-out the airweight with the boot grip. Thought it wouldn't be controllable for all 5 shots, but the rubber on the front and back DOES make it work. For the slick part, I am debating whether to texture it with my electic pencil just to give it more purchase against my palm.

I can see why they might want to make the boot grip slick, so it doesn't snag on clothing. But, if you can't hang on to it, that isn't going to work either. Would be nice if they came up with a middle of the road solution like something a bit more tacky, but not as tacky as the regular grip.

I see that the Boot grip is no longer offered on any of the models from the factory, but is still available from the Ruger Store.

The boot grip from Hogue has rubber in the front and on the backstrap so it's only the sides that are hard plastic.

I only wish they offered a 3 inch version like the SP-101,
and in carbon fiber camo finish as well.

LCRs Rock!
