LCR .22 magnum???

I haven't been on the site in a while but I was wondering if any word has filtered down from Ruger about making a LCR in .22 MAGNUM. I'd really like to see this model after handling a S&W .22mag snubbie.
I currently have the LCR .38 and I'm considering adding the LCR .357 to the ankle holster/snubbie stable.

Haven't heard that rumor. For me, .22 Mag is about the same cost as .38 Special but with less "punch".

The last I heard, Was that there were extraction problems with the 22mag in the LCR. So Ruger shelved the Project.

I have noticed by reading different posts, that the LCR 22's seem to handle ammunition differently.
Mine has no problem at all with Bulk Pak.
When I go to Stingers, I notice that extraction gets a little sticky.
Velocitors will lock the cylinder up on the first shot on mine. Some others report that their LCR 22 will handle Velocitors.

The 22 Magnum being quite a bit warmer than any of the 22 LR ammunition listed above. I wonder if the 22 Magnum would lock up the cylinder, and also extraction might be a problem.

I have also wondered if some chamber walls being slicker, or rougher is a factor in the Velocitors locking up the cylinder on only some of the LCR 22's.

This could also be a factor with the 22 Magnum.

Just thinking on paper.

I think it would work out just fine, although I wonder why a .22 Mg. in a DAO snubby.

I do think it would be a good place for a .32 Mg. as the .32 Mg. is at lease a viable choice for self defense and easier to handle than a .357 on the recoil side. 8)

Barrel too short. You'd lose the velocity anyway. No point in making that. I almost bought an LCR. Glad I went with the 9.5 inch SS. Obviously not carrying anyway. We have the SP 101-22, a very accurate revolver.

I agree to that. I have a 4-5/8" Single Six and the chronograph says that when bullets of equal weight are used, I am getting velocities very close to what I would get from a .22LR in a rifle with an 18" barrel......which is to say about 1225 for a 40 grainer.

If I felt that a .22 Mag. was adequate for PD...which I don't...I would at least use the 50 gr. bullet loaded by Federal. This for better penetration. 8)

Looks like they did it. 6-shot instead of eight shot, maybe that solved extraction issues.

I was suprised not to see a .327 Federal LCR this year, the new catalog in fact lost sp101 and blackhawk but kept the GP100 in the caliber. I wonder if that is a sign of the .327 future . O'well got mine :mrgreen: (might be a collectors piece one day). to bad because it would be a grate frame for the .327 in my mind.

I was on gunblast.com this morning and there was a link to a review of the .22 magnum LCR. I clicked on the link but it was broken. Now the link has been removed from gunblast. Hopefully it will show back up in a day or two, and this is not a sign of some kind of problem.

That is one I will have to have. Been a long time comming for someone to come out with a good .22 magnum revolver at a decent price.
