Agree, they are not useful for "long range" practice at all, but they sell well. The LCP is a belly gun, a defensive arm pure and simple. It might have a purpose at hallway-distance, but mostly it's a great gun for jamming up under the chin of the bad guy pummeling you and yanking the trigger.
For plinking and target use, I'd say the sights on either version are near useless. I have two, and rarely practice them at more than three yards... I do like them for keeping my hand warm while pumping gas.
