LC9 or LCP

Hey guys I own a sr9c now and love it I carry it on me most of the time and it's not bad sometimes I feel it's a little bulky to carry. Now that it's winter and im wearing a jacket or a sweatshirt its fine but when summer come around and Im in shorts and a t-shirt I feel like the sr9c will be harder to conseal. So my question is if you had to pick one to carry which would it be ? I like the lcp becuase of how small it is but im not to excited about it being 380cal. How ever the LC9 is also harder to conseal. So ide love to hear from people who have experience with these guns. And from people who carry 380 is it an ok round for self defense ?

I carry an SR40c most of the time, like you, in cooler weather. When it is warm i switch to the LC9 and it conceals well most of the time and i like it a lot better than the LCP because of better sights, a safety, a slide lock and because it is more comfortable to hold, the extra power of the 9mm is an extra bonus. The LCP is only used when nothing else will work, it is a great little gun and the 380 is adequate in summer weather, but the LC9is just a little nicer. If possible it is good to have them both available to use when needed. You will find the LC9 easy to conceal most of the time, i carry all 3 pistols in Mitch Rosen leather OWB holsters and it works quite well.

I agree with CJS. Only I carry my LC9 year round. I got the LCP when it first came out but had the hardest time finding ammo for it. It was a great pocket gun and very easy to conceal but was a little small for my large hands. The LC9 fits great IWB and I can still carry in a pocket if needed. Easier to hold and I can find 9mm just about anywhere. I haven't found any ammo the LC9 won't shoot. My LCP was very picky. I owned an SR9c; great to shoot but found it a little big to CC.

Any ammo will work for SD. It all depends on shot placement and what you're comfortable with. I'd rather have a .22 than nothing at all. Whatever you decide to carry, practice, practice, practice.

I've had my LCP in my pocket or on my belt for over 4 yrs. Wife has one in her pocketbook.
Neither one has ever jammed regardless of what I have fed them. Just bought a LCp-LM
for grins and giggles but am not sure if I will switch. It has also not skipped a beat.
Like you said, what you carry is not as important as where you put it and that you have it
with you if you need it!

I went to get the LCP..wakled out with the LC9. Felt better in the hand, more stopping power, better sights and the ammo was cheaper. There are times that I wish I would have bought the little sucker....But for the most part..I am happy. Especially in the winter and fall.

I have all three (LCP, LC9 & SRc's).
Each has it's place.
I rotate with them as clothing permits.
They will do their job! You can't go wrong.

I went back and forth looking at both the LC9 and LCP. I settled on the
LC9. I have not regretted that decision. The LC9 is easily pocket concealable
, it is accurate and after over 150 rounds through it, I have not had one single failure whatsoever. My recommendation is to go with the LC9.

I had a LCP. Hardly ever touched it after I got a LC9. Then when I bought a Kahr CM9, the LCP was gone....With the LC9 and the Kahr, the LCP was odd gun out!!!

The LCP is a great all around, all seasons, pocket point and shoot pistol. I love mine. It all depends on how you are planning to carry it. I CCW a Sig 238 or 938 in my ankle rig, and throw the LCP in my pocket on the move or in my crossbar bag when I am out cycling on the road. I can assure you, either choice, you will not be disappointed.

All around the LC9 is bigger & heavier and prints more so I stayed away from it

I will swim upstream here, and suggest that you give the SR9c a try in warm weather. You may need to buy some different clothes for carry, but should be able to conceal the SR9c with the right stuff, and still be comfortable.

I live in the low country of SC and carry mine in the summer. I wear jeans all year. I normally wear just a T shirt, but when I carry, I put a short sleeve button up shirt on top. It is a little warmer than I would like, but doable. I have thought about getting some of the old school tank top type undershirts (for a layer between me and the holster) and some oversized longer t - shirts as outerwear. Shorts would have to be something with a belt. The setup would be very little hotter than my normal wear. Just the addition of the thin undershirt.

If you do decide to go with one of the subcompacts, be sure and go shoot them at the range before laying out the cash for one. I was looking hard at the LC9. I tried one at the range and realized that the SR9c would make me much happier. I felt like the LC9 would be a chore to spend a lot of range time with. The SR9c, on the other hand, is a joy at the range. Of course, everybody is different, and what I really don't care for, others really like.

I had that same problem until I bought a gun belt from thebeltman.com. No more sagging with the LC9 in my pocket or a 5" 1911 on my right hip. LC9 gets carried 95% of the time.

15 years in law enforcement and I've carried many types of firearms off duty or as back up. From full size 1911 to J-frame. In MY opinion the lcp is fantastic!! There was a time when carrying a 380 would have put me in hysterics however, with new ammo performance is very good. It does take more practice to get used to shooting it well. But the lcp conceals so well and so easily and balances a decent caliber I find it hard to beat.

You need both. I have an lc9 and a tcp.Both have their situations.Here in Fla I just stick the tcp in my shorts pocket around the house(the lc9 is a little big).I have a shotgun and a SIg p250 under my bed at night.Sometimes our little chihuahua has to go out at night(no fence and she'll take off)The Sig and lc9 don't cut it but I can just drop the tcp in my pocket in case I encounter a varmint(2 or 4 legged).If I had bigger cargo type pants the lc9 would probably work.But jean type pants it is a little snug fit in the pocket.
