On Sunday, April 30 I will complete my last shift as a respiratory therapist. I started in June, 1969, so nearly forty eight (48) years. I have spent the last nineteen (19) working in a very busy pediatric ER primarily on weekend nights.

It has been a great ride, I have been blessed to have a profession I enjoyed as much as I did.

I am continuing my role as a reserve officer working the pawn shop detail so I won't be shutting everything down.

I will remain as a PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) instructor. That will average a couple of classes a month.

Other than that I will be visiting wineries, shooting a little more, and traveling a little.

I still love what I do, but I know it is time to hang it up. I will miss the people I work with (especially my resident physicians) but will not miss the child abuse cases nor the other situations where children are place in harms way by others.

I never really thought about this day but know that journeys do come to an end.

I will be looking for my next journey and adventure.

Congratulations! I hope you enjoy the next portion of you journey as much as you have the last.

It's always great to work a job you enjoy congratulations on your career now enjoy your time of your own I retired 6 years ago and do enjoy my time now.

As a parent of a child (now an adult), with profound lung disease, I thank you for your work. She spent six months plus in the hospital, and saw respiratory therapists multiple times a day. She still sees them regularly for PFTs and other testing. Your fellow therapists made our lives a bit easier. So take a well desired break.

Go easy on the wine. Retirement can be depressing...at least in the early days. You'll be instructing, which will keep you in the loop. Say hi to the wife for us.

I too will extend a hearty "Congratulations!" on you reaching your retirement. You have served & now it is time to allow others to do the job. I'm sure there are MANY people who appreciate the good you did for them!

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHhhhhhhhhhhhhhAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!

Now, be ready to sidestep those who seek to assign you stuff to do in their concern for you 'not having enough to keep you busy'.........

Congratulations.

Congratulations, as already mentioned be on the watch out for a bit of let down at first. Like an old horse let out to pasture you'll feel funny not pulling the wagon for awhile. Just remember you earned it! Enjoy.

I offer congratulations on the retirement and thanks for the service you have given others over the years. I know how needed the profession is as my wife has been battling breathing issues these past weeks and the therapists have been a great help to her.
I am also envious that you reached the retirement goal and hoping I can do the same in a year or two.
