On Sunday, April 30 I will complete my last shift as a respiratory therapist. I started in June, 1969, so nearly forty eight (48) years. I have spent the last nineteen (19) working in a very busy pediatric ER primarily on weekend nights.
It has been a great ride, I have been blessed to have a profession I enjoyed as much as I did.
I am continuing my role as a reserve officer working the pawn shop detail so I won't be shutting everything down.
I will remain as a PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) instructor. That will average a couple of classes a month.
Other than that I will be visiting wineries, shooting a little more, and traveling a little.
I still love what I do, but I know it is time to hang it up. I will miss the people I work with (especially my resident physicians) but will not miss the child abuse cases nor the other situations where children are place in harms way by others.
I never really thought about this day but know that journeys do come to an end.
I will be looking for my next journey and adventure.
