Labor Day

I am off today, so the dog and I went walking around my property, enjoying our Labor Day. The older Jack Russel Terrier ranging about 20 feet from me when a flock of turkey erupted in front of her and between us! Holy Moley! 12-15 of them. It was a hen and her brood from this year. I couldn’t tell which one was the hen-all the same size. Yep, I have had a good day. How about ya’ll?

Was going for a ATV ride alongside Zion NP. Got rain and hail so just drove through the park. It`s always spectacular and crowded. Saw some antelope. Never pulled the RZR off the trailer.

Made tuna casserole for the wife and I, she goes to the airport tomorrow for a trip to Ireland and Scotland for three weeks. I guess I’ll site in some guns and miss her for a few weeks.

Went to the range and shot my FN High Power one handed - did well right handed, but not so great left handed.

Came home to discover that the wind had ripped the brand new awning apart and damaged the frame.

Pretty much of a mixed bag...... :shock:

I nuked a cob of corn -Peaches and Cream, and grilled a steak. They both go good with sea salt and black pepper. Plus a few pickled beets.

And I took my boy to the range today.

He was raised with guns, was very comfortable, but as he grew up, he seemed to lose interest. Lately, he's asked to go shooting multiple times. I try to be available and take him at every opportunity. We had a really good time today, and he actually is shooting much better than even a month ago. He recently got his concealed license, so I'm letting him decide for himself just what gun he wants to carry, and I'll get it for him.

Recoil doesn't bother him much, but I let him shoot a SP-101 with full patch .357's, and he did say of all the guns he's been shooting, this one was uncomfortable. :mrgreen:

Good for you Wayno. Glad he's enjoying shooting again.

We are getting ready to go to the hospital early in the morning so went simple with biscuits and sausage gravy. Pretty simple but still good.

Hi,

Did some reloading, worked on finding a couple of new paths thru the house--since our Mom passed, my brother and I have been "hosting" stuff from her last two houses on top of our own, working carefully thru all her stuff to make sure she didn't hide anything in it, before it goes to Salvation Army. Augghhh!!!

Dinner was a one pot wonder from a cast iron roaster, started with rice on the bottom, a handful of this and a bunch of that next, plenty of red chili pepper and doves from Saturday's shoot topping it all so I was nice and full for an evening marathon on an old movie station. Good day!

Gee this Labor Day weekend,, I spent part of my Saturday,,, catching timber rattlers for a lady. I caught 10 of them from under a small porch. Momma & 9 little ones.

Started the day off taking my dog swimming for an hour or so and doing some retrieving work. Then, I had my best friend bring his adult daughter out and we spent almost 4 hours shooting paper and steel. He had just put a new Williams peep on her .22 silhouette rifle and she was able to get it sighted and a range card made. I mostly spent my time being on the spotting scope. After which I served up deer chili with beans and some homemade chocolate chip cookies. A great day indeed!
