I found several black versions but no stainless around here. This is to be for the wife's Christmas. I located one shop that was interested in ordering one but it won't be in until next week, cutting it close. They'll sell it to me cheaper than the blacks we found. The wife and I visited several shops so she could find an automatic she could operate the slide. Illness has left her with reduced grip in her hands. The DA only guns were too hard for her to pull but the P95 she can operate if she cocks the hammer first. She also likes the overall feel of the piece. She's interested in getting a concealed permit in the spring.

If she's not happy with it, we'll have to try .380s

With the illness and slide issue, is she not interested in a revolver ?
Just Asking, or does she just like auto's?

My wife made the mistake of buying a lil Glock 26 a few years ago. She just had to have a Glock. Frustration soon set in as she realized the great difficulty she had operating the slide. Needless to say, the gun is now mine. She would have been so much better with a little revolver of some sort. I tried to tell her.......

Stainless P95s are the ticket.

most 380s aren't any easier.

But, it seems like Walther has made a 9mm that is specifically designed with a slide that is easy to rack.

she tried a Walther .380 that was easier to operate but didn't like the looks or feel.

I'm not a huge fan of 9mm, much less a .380

a revolver is a distinct possibility but if she takes her CC test with a revolver she'll be restricted to carrying only revolvers.

we'll see what pans out. either way it has to be a weapon she is comfortable with. she will have to be able to clear malfunctions

I recommend taking the CC exam with an Auto. That way she can carry whatever she wants. That's the way my Wife and I both did.

Don't know if they will allow it but if she can, take the CC test with a MK II or III. When I took my practical test one of the guys in the class had broken his shooting arm a week before and so his solution was to shoot a MKII with his other arm/hand.

The Walther I was talking about was not a PPK... I'm going to have to see if I can find it now.

If you haven't got one yet, go to Davidsons (www.galleryof guns.com).

You can go directly from the Ruger website from the P95 section. Press the "Order" button then the "Check Availability" button and it will take you there.

When you put in your zipcode, you will see the "selling" prices for all the dealers in your area. Select the dealer and you will have the gun in about 2 days.

I just checked and they have the KP95PR with the 10 round magazines. The 15 rounders are out but the magazines are available elsewhere.

Good luck.

brasstacks, has your wife tried the overhand racking method?

If right handed, with left hand grasp the rear of the slide with the fingertips on the right side and lower palm on left side. Put left thumb against chest. Push the pistol away from the chest with the right hand, letting the right hand pull the slide out of the left hand when it hits full rear travel. You can probably find Youtube videos if it.

Good luck.

It arrived today, cheaper than any advertised on the web. Workmanship appears to be top notch. We'll see how it functions after Christmas.

If it doesn't work for the wife we'll try the Walther then at last resort a revolver
