KMKIII512 shot group

Second outing with this pistol, this time shooting for zero/accuracy with my KMKIII512--open sights. Range was 15 yds, from an improvised rest. 5 shots of CCI Mini mag. This was the last group of the day; the first group of the day of 10 shots, measured about 1.25" and was left & high.

I'm a little disappointed in the sear/hammer "feel" of the Volquartsen setup. It's definitely "notchy". The trigger adjustments worked out real well with just maybe 1/16" of pretavel. Hopefully the sear engagement will shoot smooth after awhile, I was just expecting a smoother stroke.

Total of about 150rds shot this time, all trouble-free.

Very nice shooting.

We really like our Ruger .22 autos and use them a lot on the ranch and trapline.

Here's a recent 20-yard One-Shot Group centered pretty well on the squirrel's forehead. ;)

Looks pretty good to me for only the second outing w/ the gun! I have a feeling once you get a "feel" for it, you'll be capable of that "one ragged hole" stuff on a regular basis...

Don't be afraid to experiment a little w/ your holds. Just to illustrate what slight changes can do, here's something an ol' blind guy w/ the shakes and a good flinch did a few weeks ago w/ Wally World Federal bulk pack ammo (hardly known for "accuracy") from 25 yds, "sorta" rested on a rolled up jacket, w/ a box stock MK512:

Shot order is top left, bottom left, top right, bottom right, 10 shots each except bottom right which is 5 shots. White center is 3/4", black section about 1 5/8".

The left side's my "typical" sloppy hold. The right side shows what happens just snugging it up a little.

If you're anything like most of us, methinks you're gonna learn to love that MkIII pretty fast!

I wanted to be fair to the gun, so limited myself to 15yds. My eyeballs ain't what they used to be. I'll definitely try a firmer grip and see what that does...I'm CERTAIN this gun will shoot far better than I can hold, as I've owned many MKII's in the past.
