Heat index on my front porch is 114 F. 96 degrees, 58 % humidity. My 'weather station' is showing the same as I got using the NOAA calculator. When it is too hot for me to sit in the sun it is HOT. It didn't feel this hot at MacGregor Range NM.

I was stationed at Ft Bliss 3 times. I know what hot is, but that was West Texas, this is Mid-Atlantic. This isn't "normal". :shock: :Dtinman said:

I’m with you Frank this isn’t normal we are in Pa. for the summer both air conditioners in the camper are working overtime the fan on the deck feels like a blast furnace.

It is only 90 degrees here in St Petersburg, but the humidity is awful, and it is rainy season. It can rain cats and dogs here, and keep it up for a long, long time.

Right now, 1735, it is 101 degrees with a heat index of 117. This is beyond "summertime " even for muggy Maryland. This is at my weather station on my front porch, now in shade.

Take warfarin. It acts like anti freeze or something. Thins your blood. I am cold most of the time, wife is hot. I used to be hot all the time so worked 30+ years of graveyard. On xarelto now.

We just got back from New Mexico. Stayed in the mountains most of the time; very pleasant. Didn't even have to use the A/C on the travel trailer at night. But when we went to my SIL's house in Las Cruces on Sunday, it was 107 when we crossed the Tularosa basin (Where White Sands Missle Range and Holliman AFB are located). About the same in Las Cruces. We got back to Alabama Wednesday at 97 degrees and I'll take the 107 in New Mexico anytime over that. Desert heat is hot in the direct sun, but if you can get in the shade it's tolerable and after sundown often quite nice. Southern humidity you can't get away from. Feels about as hot in the shade as it does in the sun, or at least you keep right on sweating and it's still hot after dark.
6GUNSONLY, you were in my OLD stomping grounds. We are talking from the 50's and 60's but I lived in Alamogordo and my mother still does. Where in the mountains were you? I have a friend with a place at High Rolls. Pretty nice there. Big log home. I have other friends in Tularosa. I have no idea why someone would live there, but that's just me. My dad worked at WSMR and Holliman when he was alive. Idaho doesn't get quite as hot and the humidity isn't bad either.

High Rolls, Pinion, Weed and Cloudcroft are nice. That's where all my wife's family are actually from. Where we stayed was north of Alamogordo near Ruidoso. We were at about 7300 ft elevation, so it wasn't very hot and super pleasant at night.

FWIW, we are in our monsoon season and when the thunderstorms kick in the RH gets pretty doggone high. Our heat isn't alway dry. Monsoon season is June 15 to September 15 so all we need are some tropical storm or hurricane remnants to come from either the Gulf of Baja or Gulf of Mexico and things get interesting. We really haven't had it that bad since the summer of 1983 when people's houses were disappearing into the normally bone dry Santa Cruz river. That year was not fun.

It is 1150 and it is 95 degrees, 65% humidity, and a heat index temp of 118. That what my station says and checked the figures against NOAA'so chart. It is NASTY.

On the positive side, my tomatoes are starting to turn red. They had a tough time getting going with all the cool wet weather this spring.
