Kel tec Pf9

Need to get me a pocket rocket . Have done the research and 20 reviews say the Kel Tec PF9 is a great little gun that handles the 9mm. I picked it because it fits into the pocket, price and service. Everyone says it kicks like a mule but it will not be a range gun. Ruger just did not have anything that would have fit the bill for me.

inisfree I don't have any experience with the PF9. I have a Kel Tec P11. I had some problems with it but it is reliable now. If you need any information about the Kel Tec pistols www.KTOG.org is an excellent resource for information about them.

I hope you enjoy your new pistol. I kinda think sometimes I should have gotten the PF9 instead of the P11. It is reported to have a better trigger & is about 1/8" thinner.

I was in the same boat as you....looking for a slim 9mm for CC. I did plenty of searching and finally decided to put an SR9c on order. Yes, it is wider that I was planning on, and I probably would have rather had something more in the Kel-tec size range, but I just can not bring myself to buy a DAO gun. I've handled several, including the Kel tec's and Kahrs, but a long, heavy DAO trigger is just not working for me in any type of gun. I picked up an SR9c at a local dealer and was very impressed with the trigger on it.....very light and not much travel. That, along with the added mag capacity, convinced me I could learn to live with a bit "fatter" gun.

I would suggest taking a trip to the local gun store and trying the trigger pull on the Kel tec before making any hasty decisions.

Thanks Mike...that was my feeling also. The PF9 seems to be a more modern design with the rail and the thickness was a real plus for the pocket. You get a 9mm for the same size as a 380

I have had a PF9 for a couple of years, no problems, and don't let the stories about recoil bother you. I would not load it with +P, but any good standard JHP will give you all you need in a pocket gun. I carry mine in my strong side front pocket Wrangler's relaxed fit. An Uncle Mike's #4 pocket holster is all you need.

I would jump on a Ruger version of this BTW.

My three CCW are a LCP, PF9 and a SR9c SS. I use all three for different carry situations but the PF9 goes with me most of the time. I use Speer Gold Dots in all three. I have a 1911 .45 that I feel is to big for CC but do carry it when I am out hunting.

I have one in my pocket right now. I carry it all thur the summer months and when I can't wear a cover. Yes it is a good little thin easy to carry gun. Very accurate. And yes it is not you fun gun to take to the range every week but no it does not kick like a mule. Small pony yes! Take some 220 grit sand paper and buff the grip down and you will like shooting it a lot better.
