Just got a K77/22-VBZ Laminate Target Grey .22lr. and a CZ 455 American .22lr . I have not shot the CZ yet. The Ruger has a Bushnell Elite 3200 9x40 is a good shooter. Not sure if the scope is correct for it.
I love the feel of the Ruger, and like the CZ but it is not as robust feeling. Both will be shot off of a rest most of the time. The CZ is a lot less cost wize but I'm told it's a better shooter.
Why is this?

I wish someone would tell me why the 77/22s won't drive tacks. I know there are some good shooters out there but they have a name for not being tack drivers for some reason. One would think the model Ruger you have would give 5 shot 1/2", 50 yards groups on demand.

You ask the age old question. The slip-fit barrel, the construction of the bolt, and the loose chamber have all been blamed for the less than expected accuracy. The newer 77/22s with the screw in barrel are claimed to be more accurate. The 2 CZs I own and the 1 my son owns, all different models, will easily shoot under 1/2" at 50 yards. It's rare that a CZ isn't superbly accurate. The have a tight chamber, a tight bore, and a trigger that can easily be made very nice for shooting tiny groups.

It will be interesting to hear your shooting results when you get the CZ running. The heavy barrel Ruger should outshoot the CZ but I bet it won't.

I have the CZ455 and it loves the wolf match 22lr

I do have a 77 in 243 or I should say the 14 year old has it ; )

Over at Rimfirecentral.com, the question has been asked many, many times over the years: "Should I buy a 77/22 or a CZ452?"

Predictably, 100% of CZ owners have said "Buy the CZ."

Surprisingly, about half of 77/22 owners have also said "Buy the CZ."

But look at their classifieds and see how many CZ's are for sale vs the 77/22.

The CZ crowd over there is a ferocious one! But I would rather have the Ruger and spend a little effort if needed to make it shoot. My stock 2nd year 77/22 LR didn't need a thing and I will put it up against anything out there short of a true target class rinfire rifle. My 77/22 mag has a match grade Shilen barrel and some bedding and trigger work and shoots lights out! I did the build in order to make it like my pile of centerfire 77RBBZ's though and not because it didn't shoot in factory form.

Plus , I'm in the crowd that doesn't think he's seen an attractive looking CZ rifle yet...

You can send your 77/22 barreled action to Randy at CPC and get him to work his magic: bolt re-work, barrel set-back, and rechambering. That will fix almost all of the objecitons. It did for me.

I have both a CZ and a Ruger. The CZ shot like crazy right out of the box.

My 77/22V cost almost twice as much as my CZ. Don't see why I should have to spend MORE money to make it shoot as well.
