stoped by my OLD gun shop on the way back to Big Lake, there was 30 Ruger 1911's there, wow!!.

I could not take it, i got the only pair with CON SER# in that pile!!!
15XXX range.

cant tell you what i pain as it was part of the deal (old friend) but it was LOW!!!!!

Any real reasons ??? Other than saying you have it ?

I could see it in a 1 of 100 collector grade gun, or something like that ... especially if it was 1 and 2.

In a run of the mill every day production gun ?? It's just a number on the side of a gun.

Geeze, rev, can't ya just let us enjoy our stuff as we wish without having to rationalize it to you?

I was just wondering what the draw was, Ale. Are you saying that you would enjoy shooting your guns MORE if the numbers stamped on the side are consecutive ?

My guns are for shooting .... I see very little reason to even worry about what the serial numbers are, which is why I asked.

Your non-answer above didn't really help ... kinda like saying if you don't know ... you wouldn't understand. When someone says that to me, it means they have no answer.

I couldn't care less what somebody's gun's serial numbers are ... I just wondered why some think it's 'very cool'.

Do people think it makes them worth more ??

And your wise-guy remark means you reaslly dont care about an answer, you're just stirring the pot.

Personal preferences are just that, personal preferences. They do not require your approval to be valid, and none of us has to justify his preferences to you.

Live with it. (Thanks, Wall!)

MY wise-guy responses ?? I asked a simple question.

Perhaps you should read the replies to my inquiry (including your own) for wise-guy responses ....

No further replies necessary .... Thanks ! I get it now.

To the OP. Congratulations on your consecutively numbered guns.

Enjoy them in good health. :D

Hey Rev, when you find out the reason please let me know then I can look for a cure    maybe it's like worrying about what someone pays for an SR1911 or driving anything other than a Prius    sometimes it is an obsession    so is my 30+ consecutive pairs a problem    I hope not.....RR.

Wowsers... My congrats to you ruffled a few feathers. haha.

OP, I know you said your last post "should end this," but I figured I'd throw my $0.02 in anyway. I'm the kind of person that really think little odd facts and random things are really neat. Any little oddity (having two pistols with consecutive ser. #'s is certainly not normal) can make something even cooler. CAS guys do it; why can't anyone else.

Of course, I'm the kind of guy that is sentimental about everything. If the gun shop isn't too busy when I purchase a gun, I'll look through any multiples of what I'm buying to see if anything strikes my fancy about a certain ser. #. I'm partial to any type of repeating, palindromic sequences, etc.

Weird, I know...

Rev the reason I like con serial numbers is first I only have to remember one number, and by adding (or subtracting) 1, I know the other!!!, and two, it annoyed you, and that has become a real entertaining element to reading this forum. :!:

Now THAT'S the FIRST valid reason I've heard !!! :D

There seems to be people that like to collect pistols in pairs [ nothing wrong with that ]...it`s been going on for a long time....since way back when many had pairs of guns so if someone dissed you you could call him out for a duel and thats how you solved problems then...

There could be a downside with consecutive numbers...if the guy putting them together had a bad day you could have two problems but if he had a good one you get two good ones...

For anyone looking for a moral in this thread...there is none we all just like to do what we like...no problem with that...

OP...What happens if you shoot both guns and find out if one is much more accurate than the other...

8)

That story is similar to last Sept. at my Friend's shop.......That is why son has SN 1148 and I have SN 1147.......... 8)

Thats something I never thought about ! That could suck , but then again ..

Man, if you want a Ruger go to Alaska. Apparently all the good ones are there. May be worth a trip. How far is it from Florida to Alaska anyways? Still amazes me what Deerstalker comes up with!

One store with 30 Ruger 1911's in stock ?!
That causes one the ponder the following possibilities:

1. Alaska only has one Ruger dealer, and it only gets one shipment every five years.
2. Ruger's Prescott, Arizona distribution center was recently robbed and the felons were last seen headed in a North-North-West direction.
3. Your spell-checker substituted 1911 for SR-22.
4. You are making free with the truth at the expense of those who have been waiting more than 10 months for their LGS to receive their first Ruger 1911.

Contrare...Ask about the dealer in Maine. connected to a distributor, and the multitude of Ruger Day(s) celebrations with a block of 1911's........NO, I do not know the formulae for success or inventory............. :?

Seems to be more of the same inconsistency, A LGS in my area has had over 90 1911's, 12-15 at a time, and yet there are stored in the area that have not even held one yet.
