SOLD John Gallagher custom bisley 45 Colt

Isaac Gallagher of Gallagher firearms posted this little gun for sale a couple of years ago and I was fortunate enough to get to buy it. According to Isaac, his dad John, had built the gun for a relative who hardly if ever shot the gun so he asked Isaac to sell it for him after John had passed away. Isaac said his dad shortened teh barrel to 4 5/8" did a complete action job, re-chambered and fit a non fluted 44 mag cylinder to tight 45 Colt and fit an oversized locking base pin. When I bought the gun it wore factory Ruger grips and a factory rear sight. The first thing I did was pull the factory panels and hand fit a custom made set of French walnut grips. Since I planned on hunting with the gun I also pulled the rear sight and installed a Griffin Hill red dot base (ne extra holes are drilled for this base) and a Holosun green chevron electronic sight. I found that the gun carried perfectly in my Marsupial binocular case on my chest so that is how I carried it hunting here in Oregon and in Africa this last fall. Oh I forgot to mention that this has a carbon steel bisley hammer that is blued on top, not one of the current stainless steel pieces.

The gun is offered in one of three options. All prices are shipped to the buyers FFL.

Option #1 - Gun with factory grip panels and rear sight - $1850
Option #2 - Gun with French walnut panels and factory rear sight - $2400
Option #3 - Gun with French walnut panels and the Holosun electric sight and mount - $2800

It is a great little gun and it is in that group of customs built by artists who are either no longer with us or who have pulled their shingle. There will be no more from guys like John Linebaugh, John Gallagher, Jack Huntington, Jim Stroh, David Clements nor Hamilton Bowen.

Beautiful work by my late friend John. I sure miss him. I have 4 Rugers he built for me plus two Browning Hi Powers he worked over. Although we know him as a single action guy, I found out John really liked Hi Powers, too, and knew how to work on them.
