They are junk. That is about all there is to it.
About 4 years ago we stopped in at a little gun shop in Washington County GA (we were deer hunting in the area & decided to stop in one afternoon). When we pulled up the owner was firing a Jimenez 9mm in the ditch to function test it. It fired once & jammed. The woman he had sold it to had brought it back because it malfunctioned. Her refunded her money & sold her a Smith revolver. If I wanted to buy a really inexpensive semi I would probably go with a Hi Point.
Jimenez Arms, I believe was/is made in California. I thought they had gone under years ago. They made inexpensive handguns. I have never fired one. The ones I handled I was impressed that for the money seemed well made.

All cheap throw away guns
They will work a few times but have pot metal cheap castings that wear & break extremely fast
If that is all one can afford - go for it, but very low end

I used to have a j22. It wasn't very accurate. Of course, my only other experience with a .22 semi-auto was a Ruger MK2 at the time. So I was a little spoiled.
The j22 was a great little gun, reliable, feeding every kind of .22lr I could find. magazines and ammo were easy to get. I even had several sets of grips for it. The laminated rosewood looked nice on that brushed nickel finish.

Double Maduro, I think it's summed up by saying, you get what you pay for. They are functional but at some point less than reliable. They can be better than nothing, but be sure you have a good one. I'd stick with round nose, should help.

Hi all, thanks for the feedback. I knew I'd get the real info here.
This particular JA9 belonged to a friend of mine who upgraded. He wanted $75 for it and I bought it without knowing anything about this manufacturer. I sold it to another friend for $100 and gave the whole $100 to the seller, he's having some tough times. If the gun doesn't work, I'll buy it back. My friend, the seller, will take it back to his son. If I liked 9mm I would keep it, but I don't, and don't want to have to start buying another caliber of ammo.
