I have one of his conversions he did for me. I had a "new Vaquero" converted from .357 to 38/40,case hardened frame and hammer, action job and then I had Bob Lescovec make a pair of fancy waknut grips with ivory stars where the emblems usually go.??Pretty, just something different.I may have the only "new Vaquero" in 38/40 cal??Don't know tho. Sorry I do not know how to post pics and I may be too lazy and old to learn even if I had a tutor.HA HA
I took these pics of my new-to-me Clements 44spl and Dec '58 44 Flattop to show a friend of mine. Poor quality pics, but I saw this topic and thought you might not mind. The work was done in 2007. 4" barrel, polished XR3 grip frame, and Claro walnut, Private's grips. I got it here on RF recently - a few minutes ahead of everybody else. It is a sweet, sweet gun.
I got the Flattop here, too. I fit the New Vaquero XR3 grips to it and installed a set of original parts to restore the 4-click action. Ended up with a really nice trigger. I intended to find some correct grips, but like how it looks and feels with these grips.
"Jeff Quinn Special" by Dave Clements. By far my favorite Ruger. This revolver has most of the options Mr. Clements makes available. Takes a little time, but well worth it IMHO. Grips are Ebony by CaryC. Gerry
