Necessity is the Mother of Invention. If that's true, then Laziness is the Father of Invention. Think about that.

I heard it said once, if you want a job done, give it to the laziest guy available. He will quickly figure out the easiest, simplest, cheapest, fastest, most efficient way to Gitter Done so he can get back to screwing off.

OR, he will find the easiest way to have someone else do it.

It's the guy that understands he must do the job, that doesn't want it, that
will find the easiest way to do it. :D

A traveling yankee salesman was driving down south and was lost. He pulled over to a house and asked a man laying on a porch swing how to get to a place he was looking for. The man pointed down the road with his foot. The Yankee took that in and said, "Mister, if you can show me a lazier jester than that, I will give you ten dollars! The southerner replied, "Put the money in my pocket!"

Dad had a little story about the laziest man.

Seems a soldier was always being given any new task that came up. After a bit he talked to the sarge about it. The old sarge simply told him that whenever a new job came along he gave it to the laziest man in the outfit. He found the easiest way to do it then bragged about it to everyone else.

So, yea, laziness could well be the father of invention.

Yup, my late father-in-law used to say something to that effect!
