Found this interesting as I have several 10/22 carbines, including one customized for ARA style competition.

Israel issues them for crowd control and has used them in the West Bank. There are several whiny bleeding heart ridiculous write ups about them being used, poo pooing on Israel and Ruger, but you can search those on your own.

I'm interested in what modifications these Ruger carbines have and what type ammo is used. I intend to research more about them as I think it's pretty cool.

That makes sense but to be deployed as anti personnel application from, I'm guessing a distance further than non-lethal 12ga or bags? Either way it's interesting to me and I'm curious to have a closer look at these 1022's....and their engagement capability. Cool stuff.

Where have I been to not know of this? It's apparently not a recent thing and Israel has been using Ruger 22's for awhile....10/22 and SR22.....

A simple search shows a lot of cool interesting stuff and some very laughable stuff. This is going to take awhile....found my weekend reading/watching.

Quick Wiki search:

Military users Israel: The Ruger 10/22 has seen limited use by the Israel Defense Forces in the Israeli–Palestinian conflict as a "less than lethal" weapon for security and crowd or "riot" control purposes in the Palestinian territories.

Some stuff on YouTube also.

Just thought it would be of interest to 10/22 owners. I was in the dark about it.

I don't know where I've been and never knew about this. Apparently the IDF and Israeli Police have used these since the 80's. I haven't found specifics on the rounds just that they use a 40gr solid at 1435 fps. Doesn't really narrow it down. The intent of the carbines are not to kill but incapacitate protestors during violent riots or when IDF soldiers and/or Police are targeted. When a protestor is hit in the lower leg, it takes several others to take him away slowly dispersing the crowd. Not a new tactic really but interesting weapon choice for it. I still need to do more research. I'm more interested in the Ruger's than anything else. I want to know more about the components. There are a few different variants of the 10/22 in use. I saw cool video where a guy built a replica and gave "some" history behind it.

From a 2023 article on Frontier Partisans:

I've been paying close attention to the war in Israel and Gaza; watching a lot of footage. Came across some video of Palestinians — probably late teens/early 20s — throwing stones at vehicles in a chaotic protest on a road. This was, I believe, on Saturday, and it wasn't clear to me whether the footage was real time or from recent protests.

Suddenly, one of the most active stone-throwers pulled up his right leg, his face knotted in a grimace of pain, and he began to hop away on his good leg. His comrades abandoned their pile of rocks and helped him down an incline and out of the frame.

I knew immediately what had happened: The stone-thrower had taken a .22lr round to the ankle or shin.

Imagine being a DM reporting to your command and instead of drawing a DMR or EBR you are handed a customized Ruger 10/22 or SR22

It's sort of funny if you think about it. In most of the pics of these Ruger 22s you can see they have an AR platform slung or nearby as their main weapon.

Ruger has a long history of exporting various models of firearms to other countries. Sometimes,, variations exist to comply with regulations for specific countries.

Agreed but for this specific role is very interesting. Not that Ruger cares, business is business. In this case I don't think the variations had anything to do with Israel's regulations. From what I've seen so far there are a couple different suppressed versions and a couple standard appearing non suppressed, even with the barrel band. Very interesting. Would love to see the training COF/QUAL for this tactic.
