I received the latest NRA American Rifleman in the mail yesterday. I think the bundle of junk mail was thicker.
So is it just me or is the magazine shrinking every month?

Yeah, they seem to think that everyone is looking for the latest combat, rambo, ninja, super high capacity, "aircraft grade aluminum", plastic stocked gun made in Turkey. I flip through it in 5-10 minutes and pitch it in the recycle bin.For me, the only thing worth reading in it is the "Armed Citizen" section, and occasionally one of the featured historical firearm articles.
Why should it be any different from the rest of the “rags”? Some issues I’ll read cover to cover, others not so much.Yeah, they seem to think that everyone is looking for the latest combat, rambo, ninja, super high capacity, "aircraft grade aluminum", plastic stocked gun made in Turkey. I had no idea any magazine was still in print.
When my kids nieces and nephews were born I filled a plastic box with every magazine I could find. From TV guide to Playboy.I had no idea any magazine was still in print.
In defense, the NRA is under new leadership and they are trying extremely hard to "right the ship" . Did you read Mr. Hamlins column and how about the column written by the President, Mr. Bachenberg? IMO, They are really trying to get the NRA back on track. Also, the column By Mr. Commerford (NRA-ILA Director), it gives a lot of good info about what is going on fighting the lawsuits that are being overturned and helping us Pro-Gun advocates.
I just ask NRA members to read the whole magazine, you actually might enjoy it even though it is a bit "slimmer", I think it will get better as time goes on.
I jumped in and started reading last night. I skip over the "Armed Citizen" ----always save the best for last. I made it just past the 1/2 point and will finish it tonight. Got a bit bored hearing every detail about the Mossberg short shotgun. Guess I have no need, so have little interest. I learned long ago in my younger years that a pistol grip on a shotgun is sort of useless for my needs---mostly a critter getter in the dark. Pretty sure this would also be effective for "home protection". Dam hard to stay on a moving critter while holding a flashlight while using a pistol grip. One of the old wingmasters is equipped with a regular buttstock but does have an 18.5" barrel. I also have a bubba edition of a flashlight on the end and an extended magazine. Yes there is some tape involved, but it was cheap and easy and most of all very effective. Lots more control with a shoulder stock.
