Hawkeye
This popped up in our conversation (Nita's and mine) this morning for no other apparent reason than we talk to each other.
When I was in the Army, our money ran low toward the end of the month, and usually stayed on base for the weekend. We could go to the base theater for twenty five cents, and many chose to do that. And the area of the country from which a soldier came could be accurately guessed by the phrasing of the invitation from your buddy:
From the midwest: "Want to go to a movie?"
From the northeast: "Wanna catch a flick?"
From my area: "Y'all want to go to the picture show?"
(My area being the South.)

And, yes, we had talkies then. In color, too.
