Introducing another grip maker

I would like to introduce another fine grip maker, Jerry Grayson. Jerry has been making grips for many years. He does not have a website just word of mouth. He makes grips for Rugers, Colts and others. He also makes knives with matching color grips. I will post those pictures at another time.

What sets Jerry apart is that he also works with Dupont Corian. Yes the counter top material which is available in more than 40 colors. I own seven sets of grips and the work is first rate. My latest set looks like aged ivory. I am sorry that my photo skills do not do him justice.

Being a carpenter I've installed many kitchens with Corean tops. Really nice stuff I always thought about making grips with that material.

Gary Reeder been doing Corian grips for years. People that had them made like em. I don't think there is a issue with Corian as a grip material :D

Don't remember exactly what I said but of course it would only be my opinion anyway. I have made a few pairs of Corian grips myself just to experiment with the material.

It's a counter top material not really made to be used in anything under 1/2" in thickness. It's very easy to work and very easy to polish. But when you consider that a gun grip can get down as far as 5/16" in thickness, I just don't trust it that much.

I'm sure there are probably lots of people out there who have Corian grips (maybe even some of mine) that have had no problems with them breaking. So I don't want to cast any aspersions on the above mentioned grip maker.

I just don't trust the stuff. My personal opinion only. I'm certainly no Corian expert. :wink:

Corian's got a nice look and a nice weight.

It's brittle - zero elasticity. I've made maybe 4 sets, and I busted 2 of them putting the escutcheons in. I'd probably learn better if I made more...

Gary Reeder made a set of Corian grips for my 1911 5 or 6 years ago. I have fired more than 5K of hardball ammo without an issue. I shoot better with my 45LC Blackhawk with Corian grips.
