Installing extractor band and extractor M77

I got the new extractor band and have it on the bolt but I can't pinch it down hard enough to slide the extractor on. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

You might secure the bolt in a vise with protective jaws and have another person squeeze the ends of the clip together with two small screwdrivers, underneath the cutout portion of the extractor, while you push the extractor back onto the band. another way would be to grind an old pair of pliers so they would squeeze the band together, eliminating the need of an extra pair of hands.

They can be a pain even with the plieres that are made to do this I have had to file a small amount off the eares on the band

Thanks for the replies. I slid one side on and was able to push the other side in with a screwdriver. What a pin but it is done and working.
