Info on M77 22-250 HB with green laminated stock??

Hello all. Love the forum. I'm getting ready to sell a rifle for my father in law. He informs me that this gun was an uncataloged rifle from Ruger. Heres the specs:
M-77 Chambered in 22-250.
Heavy barrel with highly blued finish.
Green laminated stock with no checkering.
Tang safety

He bought it about 20 years ago and it remains unfired. The factory box is one of the old style with the gun info hand written on it.

Can anyone provide any info on this rifle? (Production, value etc.)

If no one can answer your question, maybe you could call Ruger, give them the SN and they might be able to shed some light on it for you. They are always helpful and a real nice.... :D

All info is from the "RED EAGLE NEWS EXCHANGE"

M77V-Z .22-250 without pistol grip cap or checkering. Known SN range 770-94377 to 771-05227. Very scarce.

M77V-BZ .22-250 Known SN range 771-15625 to 771-16353. Very Scarce

M77V-DZ .22-250 Only a few known in the 771-XXXXX and 772-XXXXX range. Very Rare

The original box will help with the sale (price), as will a letter from Ruger confirming the SN and info on the box is correct.

Thank you 308longdistance. I checked the box end again and it is a Ruger M77V-Z with out pistol grip cap or checkering. Serial # is 770-945XX.

The "Z" is the first generation laminate stock. I recall seeing the prottypes at the 1983 NRA Meetings, Phoenix, Az. "Regular production" showed up a couple of years later.......Think your rifle very uncommon with a very limited build........ 8) Price it accordingly. :wink:
