I know this isn't a Sig site, but I also the high level of knowledge here usually will prevail.
I'm thinking of getting a 380, and I have been shopping around. I send a good deal on a Sig P232SL. Does anyone know what the "SL" stands for?

Thanks guys

I believe the "SL" stands for SIGLITE" which is Sig's name for their tritium night sights. BTW, the P232 is a good gun but rather big and heavy for a .380.

Thanks buckeye, that makes sense, it should have been obvious, but I missed it.

You are correct, it is heavy, I've had several PPK/S over the years, I am assuming they are about the same, but the 232 has a smoother contour to it. Probably a little too heavy for all day carry, but compared to my New Vaquero SAA 357, it's smaller, lol.
Not sure if I will get the 232, it was offered, I'm thinking............

I used to have a Sig P230SL. It was all stainless. Heavy little gun. But very accurate. I had ONE problem with it.

The bore axis was too low. The slide sat VERY low. The it would cut me sometimes when reciprocating.

Not really a problem with what I'm about to mention, but the magazine release was on the heel. Not my fav spot on a defensive handgun.

The Bersa Thunder .380 resolved ALL 3 potential issues. (Weight, magazine release location, and higher bore axis) And I feel is the gun Sig should have made. Well they did great in the Sig 238 at least! Lol.

Buy it!

The Sig 232 is not a pocket gun but it is one smooth and dependable carry gun. I have a 230 stainless (the only difference is the sights and a slight change in the trigger group) and as mentioned by others it is not light... but I carry it every day with out a problem....mine has Hogue grips and fits my hand like a glove. The one down side I can think of is that spare factory magazines are not cheap... as in $50 each.
If the price of this pistol is a truly good deal and you really don't like the pistol after you get it.... I'll buy it from you.

A few years ago I was flush and was waffling between a Sig 230/232 and a Walther PPK (sex in a holster).... I ended up buying both at a gun show.... the Sig is far superior to the Walther.

I had a P232 that was a dream to shoot....it was stolen from my truck a year ago, and hasn't shown up anywhere....I guess a gangbanger has a real nice holdup weapon now lol.
